In Baskenland worden twee officiele talen gesproken: Euskera en Castiliaans.
De gehele populatie spreekt Spaans. Het gebruik van Euskera, de originele taal van het Baskenland, is beperkt. De oorsprong van Euskera is nog steeds niet bekend en heeft geen gelijkenissen met de naburige talen, zelfs niet met Latijn of Germaans. Borden langs de weg, op vliegvelden, in havens, etc. zijn vaak tweetalig.
